Welcome to the Arab Open University

The Arab Open University is a regional, non-profit Arab university with eight branches in the Arab world (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Lebanon, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman). The Arab Open University (Jordan) is a branch of the Arab Open University which is located in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Arab Open University adopts the open education system. The Arab Open University adopts the open education system, which is characterized by flexibility in terms of the appropriateness of the learning process with the conditions and capabilities of students. The idea of ​​establishing an open university in the Arab world as a non-profit project belongs to the initiative of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, head of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), when he announced in 1996 his initiative to establish an open Arab university as an educational and non-traditional academic entity and as an institution that contributes to directing Development in the scientific, social and cultural fields. This initiative evolved in 2002 to translate on the ground into an integrated university, the Arab Open University, which was launched in cooperation with the Open University in the United Kingdom.

 

Providing higher education opportunities to the largest possible number of people from the Arab world is the most important goal for which the Arab Open University was established. In addition to this destination, there are other goals that the university is striving to achieve, among them: providing the opportunity for the people of the Arab world to continue learning and specializing in various fields of knowledge. Providing vocational training opportunities to cover labor market needs and development requirements in the Arab world.

Achievements

The Arab Open University hosts more than 28,460 students in eight Arab countries and has so far celebrated the graduation of over 20,690 students, more than half of whom are female.

 

History

The idea of ​​establishing an open university in the Arab world as a non-profit project belongs to the initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), when His Highness the Emir announced in 1996 his initiative to establish an open Arab university as an educational and non-traditional academic entity As an institution that contributes to directing development in the scientific, social and cultural fields.
